think it was a Western, evil character was famous for nose being bitten off, he had replaced it with a nose made from gold... u.s., from 70ies or 80ies, haunted me as a kid

Cat Ballou! Cat Ballou! She's mean and evil through and through! Thanks. Now it won't stop going through my head. But I did like the movie.

It came on TV in the 70's and my folks watched it but I was young and had to go to bed. I just remembered hearing once that Lee Marvin got an Oscar for playing two roles; the comical town drunk and his twin brother; the evil gunslinger with the gold nose.

Yes the PPs are right, Cat Ballou, Lee Marvin's character was Kid Shelleen. The nose-biting thing was portrayed as comedic though as I recall. To lampoon how tough he was.

I don't remember when I first saw it but I think I was very young and we saw it at a drive-in when it came out. So I would have been 8 at the time. I would like to watch it again.

eyelikefilms, are you out there?
Three of us have agreed that "Cat Ballou" is probably the film you are looking for, but it would be kind of nice if you could come back and confirm it. Hopefully you will not come back and deny it, or we'll have another "Sole Survivor" situation on our hands.

sorry for late reply... Cat Ballou would have to be it, I guess, although I remember the image to look somewhat different but it was ages ago... The Salton Sea is definitely not it, 2002 is way too late

TRUE STORY:
I thought you were referring to my early 1990s scrap-fest with a local scumbag who shall be known here only as Ron the Asshole. After he brought two more men with him, I knew I had to make him an example.....so, after dispatching his cowardly associates rather quickly, I tussled in a close grapple with Ron the Asshole. So close that neither of us was making much headway. So.....I grabbed his chin in one hand, and a huge fistful of his dirty hair in the other. I angled his head slightly, then brought my face in tight, and then....I bit down hard on that schnoz, and twisted my head in the opposite direction of his. It came off all in one bite, left hanging by a skinny strip of skin. Blood sprayed everywhere; he howled like a beaten beast.
The next day, he brought me the $500 he owed me.
Don't fuck with Heisenberg.
