Before your current favorite, what was it before?
Blade Runner 2049 for me now, before that it was a toss-up between The Dark Knight and The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

Independence Day back in the late 1990's. My favorite movie has been the same for the last 20 years. The Silence of the Lambs. I haven’t seen Independence Day probably since I was about nine or ten. I remember loving it, though. I’ve never watched The Silence of the Lambs all the way through. I’ve gotten quite a bit of crap for that over the years lol.

I cant name a single favorite movie straight up (I am surprised people can name only ONE movie that stands above the rest) but I can name some movies from the past that used to be a 10/10 for me that are currently a 6/10 at best(some are a 5/10(Thumbs Down)), which are... -The Last Samurai (2003) -Leon (1994) -Heat (1995) -Saving Private Ryan (1998) -The Godfather (trilogy) NOTE: there is more movies that dropped from a 10/10 to a lower score since but they have not dropped off as dramatically as those listed did, so I did not list them. also, I might be forgetting some (probably not much though) but that's the best I can do from memory and a fairly quick check through things. but currently there are only six movies I give a 10/10 and I want to say around the early part of the previous decade (call it sometime before 2013 or so) that I had roughly 4 times the amount of 10/10's that I have now. so probably in the ball park of 23 movies given a rough count a moment of what info I know. NOTE: I am only going by the not too distant past because I imagine when I was a kid, if I did have a 10/10 scoring system, there likely would have been more movies I (over)praised especially when your too young you tend to be overly generous with scores since you have seen much less movies it's generally easier to be impressed by them vs when you get a bit older and have seen plenty over the years it's much easier to see the true gems from just another movie. p.s. basically the seven movies listed above along with my six 10/10's and the following is how I came up with a total of 23 movies for my general 10/10 estimate from say a bit prior to the year 2013 or so... Open Range/Running Scared/Scarface/For a Few Dollars More/The Shawshank Redemption/The Worlds Fastest Indian/Training Day/Terminator 2/Back to the Future/The Departed. but all of these still score between 7-9/10, so I did not feel they took a large enough hit to list in my main list above. moviemouthYeah, I remember liking that movie quite a bit back-in-the-day in the late 1990's when I was in my late teens and probably a fair amount after that. I still like it now (July 2018 is my most recent re-watch) but only mildly (i.e. 6/10). sdrew13163While that used to be about a 8-9/10 for me at one point, I don't even like it now as of June 2014 which was the last time I viewed it. in my opinion your not missing much as I think the movie mainly boils down to whether you like Hopkins performance/character to a higher degree or not in whether the movie stands out or not. I imagine that's THE role Anthony Hopkins is most affiliated with/known for. but personally, in terms of roles, The World's Fastest Indian (2005) would be his #1 role for me. with that said... I can't fault you too much as I imagine we all got certain movies that we have not seen from beginning to end or have not seen at all that a lot of other people have etc.

After over a decade, The Godfather Part II edged out Part I.
Before that was pretty hectic times. I was a kid so it was always changing.
