I blame the strength and conditioning coach. They knew syndergaard had a tired arm and allowed him to REFUSE an mri. they brought cespedes back too fast (and they wanted him to PH a few days BEFORE they brought him back)
either they are desperate for wins or they want to sell tickets . . . maybe both. they are a mess.

Mets are a train wreck, especially without Syndergaard. Nats are amazing right now, just look at their batting averages, they are playing out of this world.

I'm still not sold on the Nats being able to win the NL, I'm not sure how long they can stay this hot, literally every person in their lineup is red hot. That being said, they've played better than anyone else and the NL is a wide open race right now.

well at least we got a safety and a field goal and they'll lose in the first round of the playoffs again being a Phils fan - i always wanted to root for them before they got Papplebon. now i'm back on board. i really hope the make a run again before my Phils are dominant from 2018-2028

Anyone who ISN'T a Mets fan not laughing their asses off? I love when a team gets destroyed like this, so long as it isn't happening to mine.

That being said, they've played better than anyone else and the NL is a wide open race right now. Zimmerman is playing well above anything close to a sustainable level and given his past few years, I can't see him being anything more than a .260 or so hitter the rest of the way. Good for him though, I always liked Zimmerman. Harper and Murphy will carry this team, along with the stellar rotation. The real achilles heel for them is their bullpen which just isn't good, no matter how you slice it. If they keep bludgeoning teams, it won't matter but when they get to the thick of it, they're going to lose a lot of heartbreaking games when they matter most.

^^Agreed^
They will most likely seek an elite reliever or closer. i can't see sean kelly closing for the rest of the season.

Absolutely, their bullpen is weak and a great bullpen is crucial. Look at the last 2 World Series champs, they probably had the best bullpens in the league. Their hitting has just been out of this world, and it will definitely drop off some, just how much is the question. The loss of Eaton hurts as well.
My question is, who will win the NL? The Cubs are still my pick, with their brilliant pitching, both starters and bullpen, but their hitting isn't very good aside from Bryant and Rizzo. Who else is there? The Dodgers, who are also postseason chokers and have lots of iffy players? The Rockies, who don't have good starting pitching?
I'm still hoping my Fish can make it to the playoffs, we have very good hitting and a deep bullpen, we can make the postseason with consistent pitching. The NL and really all of baseball is unpredictable and wild this year, no one would've predicted after that April, the Jays would have the worst record or that Eric Thames would lead the league in HR's.

my friend is convinced the mets will make the playoffs. He says these games don't matter much because it's early. what an idiot
