I hate genres because I don't specifically deal with them a lot of times, but there are several stories I'd peg somewhere in the mystery/suspense/children's genres.

Suspense, mystery. I read a lot of fantasy fiction but I want to write mysteries.

Agree with you novastar6 completely, after you have been reading for awhile you like to see Genres mixed up and played around with. My first novel might involve two storylines, one taking place in a Fantasy world and the other in Science Fiction, the character from the Science Fiction world, through a spiritual crisis, finds the ability to shift between one world and the other, this is mainly a plot device to explore a deeper issue of existential philosophy and our constant need for escapism versus our inherent inability to actually control events - the concept that each individual, not society (no matter how technologically beneficial) or religion (no matter how magical and overpowering) is solely responsible for giving meaning to their life. This is just a rough outline, perhaps this would be an expansion on the model of the novel 'Dune' that I have just recently read, but instead of turning the characters every outward for a supernatural ability to manipulate time and events, (some to eventual madness) the characters would be repeatedly turned inward after facing the limitations of material power. or something along those lines LOL

I've written novels. "Comedic surrealism" probably fits best.

Horror or Science Fiction. I've read and love both genres.

Let's suppose that you were going to actually write a Novel, what Genres might you choose to write it in? My two Genres are Science Fiction and Suspense/Thriller (Psychological). I've written and published a Suspense book (novelette). It's the only one one I plan to write. All the rest are Science Fiction and I have three short fiction books in the works (a series).

My favorite scenario in Science Fiction is to write about technology that doesn't exist (yet). I write in present times about technology that possibly could exist, but doesn't yet. In my stories, it does exist.

if I had the ability, i'd like to write romantic suspencers like the kind Mary Stewart wrote. Villainous goings on in exotic foreign locations, intelligent attractive heroines, strong handsome heroes, hairbreadth escapes, fast cars. They'd be fun to write.

I've written novels. "Comedic surrealism" probably fits best. I would read that. I'm a fan of R.A. Lafferty.

The few stories I've had published have each been of the horror genre. I'd imagine my first novel will be of the same.

Probably comedy, since that's the style I've been complimented for.

Apocalyptic and/or dystopian. I wasn't sure what genre that fit best above, so I voted Fantasy.
