With the recent poetry thread, I was wondering if anyone were interesting in “tailgaters,” a form of light verse that Bob McKenty, an always good and often great light-versifier, describes it this way: Can be about movies but certainly don’t have to be—whatever strikes your fancy. They’re a lot of fun. As McKenty writes them, the poems are actually four lines: a bolded title, the italicized name of the poet you’re borrowing from, and then the rhymed couplet. Here are two of mine, for which I’ve kept McKenty’s structure: Whoever wants to give it a go is more than welcome!
