Let's leave out the obvious 'slasher hero' -i.e. jason, michael, freddy, pinhead, chucky, etc.
They all hold a soft spot in our hearts if we're horror fans.
I'm going:
Patrick Bateman - American Psycho Annie Wilkes - Misery Julia - Hellraiser
Go!

I don't know how I can convince you, but I do highly recommend giving it another chance. One of Lynch's best IMO.

I think Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is highly underrated and a classic. I'm one of the few that despises Mulholland Drive. Spare the 'you just didn't get it'. Nobody did. I love those that try to explain their own interpretation of what exactly they thought went on in that jumbled mess. Snoozefest. One of the few films I chucked in the dumpster.

I don't know if these should count but here goes:
1. The Puppets in the Puppet Master series.
2. Audrey.
3. Predator
4. Already mentioned, Darryl Revvok
5. Evil Ash in Army of Darkness, he's comedy gold.
6. Terminator, one of the few great arnie roles to me.
7. Pinhead

Dr. West from "Re-Animator" was the first I thought of.
He seems so detached from the craziness of what he's surrounded himself with, it makes him almost sympathetic. His character is clearly brilliant, but lacking in social skills...he's a scary scientist without being a "mad" scientist.
Corbin Bersen's character in "The Dentist (1996)" is a bit hammy, but a good time. He too seems a bit sympathetic, though he has a couple loose screws when it really comes down to it.

Prince Mamuwalde/Blacula (William Marshall)-"Blacula" (not so much "Scream, Blacula, Scream) Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon)-"Fright Night" (1985) Johnny Bartlett (Jake Busey) and Patricia Ann Bradley (Dee Wallace-Stone)-"The Frighteners" King Kong in any version Count Dracula (Duncan Regher)-"The Monster Squad" (any guy who would call a 5-year-old girl the "B" word is a special kind of evil)
