Write a letter, phone them? Not as convenient obviously but at least Zuckerberg and his CIA-connected minions won't be spying on you. You need to get out of the house more. I would but my tinfoil hat is still being repaired.

How certain are you that it is actually Facebook asking for this information?
About as certain as I can be. Whenever I type in my password to log onto Facebook this is what comes up: Please upload a photo of yourself which clearly shows your face. When you send us a photo, we'll check it and then permanently delete it from our servers.

If it really is from them, I imagine they are doing it to you were either hacked or you typed or liked something some kind of red flag word. It does appeared to be legit: www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=10151825927267099www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=699840316735549I am sorry you are going through this. I use it to keep in contact with friends and family and would be frustrated if I couldn't log in.

Left that disease ridden cesspool years ago. FB is the worst social networking site I have ever been to.

Left that disease ridden cesspool years ago. FB is the worst social networking site I have ever been to. I would leave it if I could. But to leave it I need to log on and they will not let me unless I send them a government photo. Plus they keep sending me notifications to my hot-mail account. Again to even change my notification settings I need to log on. Now I wish I never joined that cesspool in the first place.

Damn, that's nuts.
I've never had that problem before. I have my real face as my main profile picture. I've been a member since 2007. I usually login about once a day. I use it primarily to contact friends and distant relatives.
Never once have they asked me for a Government-issued ID, nor would I ever give them a copy. I'd simply disregard my account and create a new one.

I got something like that once, but not exactly the same thing. I have a pseudonym account on FB that I use just to interact with gaming friends. (I don't have real-life friends and family as FB friends.) Some vindictive person reported me as having a fake account, and so FB wanted me to provide them with proof. I think one solution offered to me was to give them my credit card number. Yeah, wasn't gonna do that.
In the end, I just gave them a name that sounded more real to them, and the FB bot was satisfied. With that account, I now can no longer change the name.
What's stupid, though, is that I was able to open a new account under my original name. So it didn't stop me from using FB under that name.
I understand FB wanting everyone to use their real names, but in my line of work (teaching), that's just not something I'm willing to do. I need some anonymity, not to act improperly, but to make sure my personal life stays that way.

Yeah. Facebook is pretty bad. I used to have an account but I deleted it back in 2010. I actually liked Myspace more back when it was the place to discover all the newest and upcoming Indie artists and bands but then they changed their format and a lot of people left and I don't think anybody uses it anymore. Facebook is full of cyber bullies, trolls and stalkers now and for all the security they are supposed to have I am always hearing about teenagers taking their lives after being constantly bullied on it, pedophiles sharing child porn with each other and terrorists using it to recruit new members.

I want to disregard my account but to do that I need to log on to delete my account. It is getting worse. Now when I get a notification not only does it go to my e-mail account but it goes to my cell phone. This is ridiculous.

I was done with FB soon as I discovered they probe my conversations for keywords to then spam me with ads. For example. I type the word PIZZA in a convo I'm having and BAM! a Domino's Pizza ad pops up. Fuck FB

Ad blocker doesn't stop FB from streaming ads. Then again, I haven't been on FB in like 7-8 years so...

One of my kids who knows a lot more about computers than me said this time they just want a photo. Does not have to be a gov. ID photo. So she sent them a photo of me at a wedding. Now instead of saying: Please upload a photo of yourself which clearly shows your face. When you send us a photo, we'll check it and then permanently delete it from our servers. It says: Sorry, something went wrong.
We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
What a headache.
