At this point I don't care. Carrie Fisher is dead, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamil probably won't return. Disney missed their chance to do a proper sequel trilogy. Might as well move on to different things in the Star Wars universe. Disgracing Luke Skywalker tarnishes the best SW movies. Luke Skywalker IS Star Wars. There is no way forward if this is not fixed.

Of course there is. The Mandalorian is the best thing coming from Disney era Star Wars and Luke is not there. Place it centuries before or after the Skywalker saga and start with something else. Disney blew their chance at creating a good sequel trilogy so I say they move on.

The Mandalorian is the best thing coming from Disney era Star Wars and Luke is not there. The Mandalorian is set 5 years after ROTJ, in LUKE'S timeline. Luke is rumored to appear in season 2. Also, The Mandalorian is using ORIGINAL TRILOGY AESTHETIC. The original trilogy are LUKE'S movies, but a Rick and Morty fan wouldn't understand this.

My point is that Luke Skywalker wasn't in the Mandalorian. I guess I have to repeat it so you can understand what I was trying to say.

I saw an article on Twitter saying they're not going to erase them afterall. Just make an animated series after ROTJ and be done with it. That’s a start. Then sometime in the future the sequel trilogy can move from ‘canon’ to ‘legends’.

The rumor is that Disney will use the World Between Worlds crap from one of the cartoons nobody watches to erase the disasterous sequels. That would be messy, it would be better just to make new movies that ignore episodes 7-9 ever happened. Discuss. Eh, it won't do much good. they've had 6 chances to make a good star wars film after rotj. 8 if you count solo and rogue one. And all have fallen flat. Next ones won't be good probably either.

The rumor is that Disney will use the World Between Worlds crap from one of the cartoons nobody watches to erase the disasterous sequels. That would be messy, it would be better just to make new movies that ignore episodes 7-9 ever happened. Discuss. Yeah I agree. It would be a messy way of handling it. But come to think of it, it’s always been messy! From the very beginning. And they intentionally made it a mess. That was the plan all along. They had everyone believing that they rejected George Lucas’ script ideas because they were too prequelly. But the real (or bigger) reason they rejected them is because they wanted to make a trilogy about Disney Channel characters and put them in an OT SW universe. Here in this video (around the 8 minutes, 50 seconds mark) Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams are admitting that they made Kylo Ren to be a teenage-angst, emo man-child like something out of the Twilight saga. This villain archetype is popular on preteen Disney Channel shows... This is the kind of character archetype that usually plays an inept “punching bag” to the warrior princess (Disney’s most popular archetype). Also, have you ever noticed how much input and control Kathleen Kennedy has on the writing of the sequel trilogy movies? Here she is again in this video (about the 1 minute, 45 second mark) pulling Jar Jar Abrams puppet strings in their little writing committee. LOL So if Kylo Ren was deliberately written to be a Disney Channel style bad boy, is there any doubt that Rey was deliberately written to be an incorruptible, invincible (MarySue) warrior princess? They knew from the beginning it was the plan. Arndt got fired because he didn’t get Luke totally out of the way of Rey’s debut in TFA. Jar Jar Abrams was too afraid to characterize Luke as a senile failure obsessed with quitting and hiding. But the trolling nature of Rian Johnson was happy to it... and continue to develop a story about a Disney warrior princess and her arch nemesis, punching bag bad-boy crush. Not to mention it destroyed half the established mythos and rendered all of the other character storylines useless. Because that didn’t matter in the original plan. The only problem is that they were convinced that they could get away with it. They thought they could make any dissenting fans impotent through misaligning and stereotyping them on social media. But the TLJ (week one and two) drop off made them nervous. The Solo flop made them panic. So they tried to drag a mess of a legitimate fan base split - that they created - into the last episode and try to fix it. By awkwardly cramming things into TROS that they thought appease the fans they split off. Yeah, it sounds like a messy idea to fix a writing mess that spans the entire sequel trilogy - all because the original plan was to make a trilogy about Disney characters surrounded by a nostalgic, multimillion dollar Star Wars universe, rather than inserting better written Disney characters into the pre-existing saga. Well, at least there’s The Mandalorian.
