A lot of the jokes in 48 HOURS are dated and, considering that it was made in the early 1980s, the action sequences aren’t that exciting. Luckily, Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy have the right amount of chemistry. You might've read that this was the movie that made the buddy cop genre popular. Turns out that it was a technicality, because it's not actually about 2 cops. What happened with ELAINE? Did she and CATES make up? I know the answer because I already saw the sequel, but you can’t leave a plot hole like that and wait 8 years to solve it. Or a year, for that matter. 5/10 Unlike most people, I think ANOTHER 48 HOURS is better than 48 HOURS. I know you all thought that the lighter tone made it look like a parody by comparison, but I felt it was a better fit for this type of story. The 1st installment was way darker than it needed to be. Also, Eddie Murphy is more... ”out of control” in this one, which is what he does best. 6/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

6/10, though it's leaning towards a 6.5/10.
