Obviously that's the teams' call, but after this latest idiot got rejected at the Red Sox game, I think it's time to carefully consider.
1. For most women, the proposal is a big deal. 2. For some women, they are possibly not at the game because they love the sport or team, but because bozo dragged them to it. 3. Tens of thousands of people witnessing the proposal does not equal "romantic." See 1. 4. Popping the question on the Jumbotron in front of tens of thousands of strangers puts a certain amount of pressure on the woman, especially if she's not 100% likely to say yes. 5. Unless she says yes and doesn't have a problem with the venue, the dude is likely in for stormy times ahead. 6. My advice for the man; be classy, and be original. This has been done to death and just doesn't cut it in the same way as a romantic dinner, walk on the beach, whatever. There was one guy who did it through a movie he made and got the local theater to show to a small crowd of gf and friends. Now THAT's original.

None of these reasons really support the idea that they should be banned. I agree that it's stupid and tacky, and frankly a little white trashy, but ban them because we don't like them? Nonsense. I'd like to think that anyone who does this does so because their support of a particular team is something of a shared experience. If you just happen to be there and you dragged your girl along and you do it there, then yeah its stupid. I know plenty of people that love going to Yankees, Mets, Giants etc. games together, that watch them every day together so, even though I think it's stupid, doing this would make sense for them. What's romantic for one doesn't mean it's romantic for everyone.
Plus, are you suggesting that a romantic dinner or walk on the beach hasn't been done to death? The only different between proposing at a game or proposing at a restaurant is the number of people. If you do it at a restaurant (which PLENTY of people do), then she is still a captive audience and pressured into answering right then and there in full view of dozens of people. Is it the number of people watching that's the problem? What if she doesn't like the restaurant? Or let's say you propose on the beach itself and you get to consummate the celebration right then and there. What's romantic about your now-fiance having to wash sand out of her vagina?
I agree with you in spirit about the games, but not with the conclusion.

Dinner/beach is the original tried and trusted low risk method. Go with what works.

I do enjoy watching the rejection videos on youtube, although I do think a lot of them might be faked. Surely you'd just say 'yes' then tell them to fuck off later. And what kind of idiot proposes unless you are reasonably certain what the answer will be?
Seems to be more of an American thing.

You'd have to be an idiot to get married. Divorce is messy.

Yeah I don't know why people get married still really, it's expensive and frequently leads to you living a trapped, boring life. However, people are sheep and will do whatever authority figures tell them to, and authority figures and the elitists want them to marry so they can control the sheep.
