So I was listening to the cracked podcast and they made a point that I've wondered about now and again.
In Alien, we are told that the company "must have wanted the Alien for the weapons division." In Aliens, Burke states "Those two specimens are worth millions to the bio-weapons division!"
But... how? What would you do with a Xenomorph to make it a weapon? How would you make millions off of using it as a weapon?
Is the idea that you drop eggs into enemy territory like a bomb, and then wait for the Xenos to facehugger your enemies, producing a Queen and then building their numbers until they annihilate the enemy? Because that's just idiotic if you think about it for even a second. Imagine the Allies deciding not to do D Day, and instead dropping eggs into Germany. A year later, sixty million Germans are dead! And now we have a country with sixty million Xenomorphs in it instead. Um.... yay? This is helpful how, exactly?
Well okay, but it's space! You can drop them onto enemy planets and wipe out everything!
Okay, but... how is that better than just nuking the enemy planet instead? Bearing in mind that very few nuclear weapons escape captivity and start reproducing and swarming over their creators...
And of course, this all gets worse when we discover in Prometheus that the Xenomorphs were invented as weapons in the first place. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I don't think you have to literally drop the eggs like a bomb, but yes essentially that is it. Without actually "knowing", I think it's actually pretty easy to take a guess as to why they would be more desirable than bombs. Bombs, particularly nuclear ones, completely destroy an environment. Xenomorphs don't. They will eliminate all life within a certain radius, but the environment remains untouched. If there are some kind of resources in the area that are desired, they wouldn't be affected, whereas if you use a bomb you destroy everything. I think it's very possible that they have a limited lifespan, like some insects. I mean, they are designed to kill, grow to maturation in a very short timeframe, so I don't think it is outrageous to think they don't live long.

LOL. Look what they tried and failed to do in Resurrection. There's just no way to make these creatures a loyal pet - let alone abuse them into submission enough to be a weapon. Anyone who tries is just going to die a horrible death.
You'd have better luck getting predators to cooperate in your military.

I wouldn't say its that hard to envisage. Simply breed some xenomorphs, attach a tracker and a remote detonator and drop the aliens into enemy territory. Let them wreck havoc and once they're done, activate remore detonator to kill the aliens and start over.

They're basically "biological warfare" on (extraterrestrial) steroids.
