I thought too many people staying home and using air conditioners all day because of the Carona Virus might cause power outages.

I thought too many people staying home and using air conditioners all day because of the Carona Virus might cause power outages. This is my concern. We have had too many shorts, brownouts. We may use AC 4-6 hours at night, on a certain night. Otherwise fans and open windows. I think too many are going 24hrs and overwhelming grids. My thoughts.

I can't. I have respiratory difficulties and need to run my A/C. I have it set so that temps drop, my A/C automatically turns off. It doesn't just keep running. But lately it's been in the high 80's and extremely humid.

My power company has a voluntary program where on average about one afternoon a week, power will be reduced to homes for two or three hours at the peak usage time, the middle of the afternoon. While it is possible to opt out of the program, I believe a large percentage of their civic minded customers choose the option. Those who opt out are most likely the same people who ignore their societal obligations in other areas. They are the ones who get belligerent about wearing a mask in public and who set off illegal fireworks.

I think the Columbus, Ohio area tied a record yesterday with 12 straight days of 90 degrees or higher. Most days were 95 or 96 degrees. And yes I ran my air conditioner all most all those days!

I think it's a personal responsibility. If you need it, use it. We're 7 floor Condo, across the hall, they go away to a lake property 3-4 days now. AC blaring. They don't care, and rarely will talk to us. They are 'above' us. Maybe reverse psyche will work. 'Turn your AC on when you're away', they might turn it off just to spite us?
