A silky skills player who doesn't have much impact in my opinion. Had Arsenal bought a decent DCM five years ago, they might have won a few titles but instead they went with flimsy, show ponies in the centre of the park.

He's a good player, but I think he is a bit like Mata in that he needs to be playing with physical players, when things aren't going well they're not going to dig in for you, I agree with Painbow, I think they need a Kante or a Makelele or a Viera or a Keane, but then every manager would love one of those players. Good ones don't grow on trees.

Ozil would have been magic in that team of Bergkamp. Henry, Pires, etc., with Adams Keown, Viera. He would probably have had approx 30 assists per season. I wouldn't write him off as a flimsy show-pony because it's been known for seasons that Arsenal have little or no backbone in their team. Spuds flourish with two outstanding holding midfielders, Dembele and Wanyama who simply win the ball and move it on to a playmaker, Eriksen. Chelsea have Konte, Pep has Fernandinho and Fernando, Jose has Carrick and Herera. Wenger hasn't a clue. Not Ozil's fault but he isn't a £15m pa player

Most overrated footballer in Europe of the past decade, easily.
That's not to say he isn't a quality player but the guy is so hyped up and his talent so exaggerated it's unreal. In his Real Madrid days I remember many matches where he'd do next to nothing other than the odd clever pass or through ball here and there, get substituted and the commentators would be lavishing him with praise over yet another "outstanding MOTM performance"? Sometimes it would only be at that moment when I'd realise he was even on the pitch.
