MLB teams will begin their shortened 60-game schedule in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic July 23 and 24. The Red Sox open July 24 at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles.
Manager Ron Roenicke said only nine players and three coaches will be allowed in the real dugouts at the same time during games. βThat means weβll probably have to alternate the pitching coach and hitting coach during when we hit and when weβre on defense,β Roenicke said during a Zoom conference call Tuesday. The extra seating area for the home team is expected to be built in the stands between home plate and the home dugout. The extra seating area for the visiting team will be built in the stands between home plate and the visiting dugout. βWhether it will be tents or whether it will be a structure, I know they need to get going on that,β Roenicke said. βAnd then in the bullpen, same thing. Thereβs another structure weβve talked about behind the bullpen that both the visiting and home team can go back there. And some taller chairs so we can have more guys in the bullpen. As it is right now, you canβt see (over the right-field wall) in the lower chairs. So youβve got to get a higher chair and we can spread them out enough. I donβt know if we can have all the guys. If we go with eight to 10 guys (relievers), I donβt know if we could have them all in there.β

Is Ron Roenicke the manager of the Sox or the Orioles?
I'm being honest here, I actually don't know. I kinda don't really care either, just curious.

I remember Gary Roenicke, I think he played with the Brewers in the 80's. The thought of the Sox and O's playing in an empty Fenway while obnoxiously loud noise is played over the loudspeaker has such little appeal for me, I actually can't fully describe it.
