That's right, Jason fans. Shout!/Scream Factory will be releasing ALL Friday The 13th movies, including the 2009 version, in a deluxe collector's edition on October 13th. Tons of extras, and even more will be announced later! What I would like to know for sure is if this will have the complete uncut version of Part 2, which had to be heavily cut in order to appease the MPAA to secure an R rating. My gut feeling tells me it likely won't, but if it does I would sure be the first in line to get this set. www.shoutfactory.com/product/friday-the-13th-collection-deluxe-edition?product_id=7444

Looks awesome. I really want it but at $159.98 Im going to just stick with my DVDs. Yeah, it sure looks very impressive, but that price and since I already have bought all the movies (twice, some even three or four times over) on DVD back in in the day, I might have to hold back this time. Anyway, thanks for the heads up Dramatic Look Gopher.

I agree guys that is a steep price.
Since I'm here, I'll mention that Shout! is also planning to release Terror In The Aisles on October 13th. I believe this will be its blu-ray debut.

The brand new picture scans are tempting, and the box set looks visually nice. If I didnβt already own the tin set... I might pick it up. Although like you, in regards to Part 2 and even if part 7 got the My Bloody Valentine treatment. It would be even more tempting.

I'd be very curious to see that too, but now with John Carl Buechler gone he can't supervise a director's cut. That may not be too difficult to put together, but I also believe that most of that footage has not been found since it was originally cut out. It's a shame too. There's supposedly some really great stuff in there.

Even Part 6βs MPAA cuts look in better shape.

Can't get too excited about this. Already own everything except Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X on blu and it doesn't like there's really much in the way of new bonus material. With the Crystal Lake Memories Blu-ray already on the shelf as well, I think I'm pretty much set. I wouldn't be opposed to separate Collector's Editions of JGTH/X but no way am I plunking down $150+ on this when there isn't much added value.
Still holding out hope for Collector's Editions of Child's Play 2, 3 and Bride of Chucky over here. Sigh.

Don't even know whether it'll release this side of the Atlantic, but it wouldn't be for me. I mean I like the movies and all, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on them when I have some perfectly good DVD copies lying at home.

Oh yeah, great timing, right after I bought some box with only the first eight movies. Then I had to buy the rest separately. I did enjoy my binge though.

If they include tons of extras about Friday the 13th Part 2 and audio commentary and interviews with Steve Miner. I might buy it.

I jumped at buying that Halloween boxset a few years back because it was really the first time the franchise had ever been released in that way, same with the big Universal Monsters boxset, those films had been released a hundred times but never all together in one package. Friday the 13th on the other hand has been released in box set form multiple times, and you can complete your Jason collection for fairly cheap regardless. $160 is too expensive for a franchise that's been released as much as this franchise has been. It's the same with that Dawn of the Dead 4K boxset, I'll stick with my Ultimate Edition DVD.

So, did anyone get this thing?
I sat on the fence for a while but have ultimately decided not to get it. Not enough new material to entice me to buy the movies for the fifth or sixth time. But I'd be curious to know what other folks think of it.

But I'd be curious to know what other folks think of it. I did. The only thing I've actually looked at so far are those uncut Friday 2 deaths, which were on youtube before I could even unbox it (on that note, Alice and Scott's deaths are a million times better). The other draws were the 3D version of 3 which I didn't previously have, and some new commentaries (mainly Adam Green and Joe Lynch's fan ones for 5/6 - their commentary for the Deluxe Edition of Friday 4 was hilarious). But still, a lot of money to spend on basically three things. This is my second or third dip on most of the series, after the From Crystal Lake to Manhatten DVD set and a couple of Deluxe Editions. If they found ways to incorporate the Friday 2 uncut deaths into the movie (not to mention the Friday 7 ones) that'd have been something.

It was pretty cool seeing the uncensored deaths, even though there was no audio.

There's actually a pretty decent fan edit of them with sound on youtube. youtu.be/JG5ZXYRvsWIShout Factory should hire this guy.

Caps-o-holic now has screenshot comparisons between Shout's box set and Warner's complete collection Blu-rays for the first 8. No big differences that I could see. Some of them seem to be 100% identical. Some others have differences in framing and color correction, Shout's version having warmer skin tones and they are also slightly more cropped.
