Some very good performances from 93', though I have never been sold on Hanks in Philadelphia. I struggle to even watch it. Yes, good call with Cusack in Addams Family Values. She was in top comedic form here, hilarious and in perfect sync with the tone of the film. I like it better than the first and largely due to Joan. Completely agree on both points. Cusack gives a marvellous comic performance in AFV. Christina Ricci is a treat, too. I still have happy memories of the summer camp scenes all these years later. I think it’s way better than the first film.

Short Cuts was full of terrific performances and a compelling interwoven character study. One of Altman's best as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely, a phenomenal film - best of 1993 imo. The one weak link, for me, was Jack Lemmon, whom I found out of place and rather cloying, but not enough to ruin things. One member of that superb cast, Annie Ross, has sadly passed away, I have read just this minute.

One member of that superb cast, Annie Ross, has sadly passed away, I have read just this minute. It has been a very long time since I saw Short Cuts. Lemmon was the grandfather of the kid? I don't recall anything special about his performance, but I don't recall being aggravated by it either. I prefer it to Nashville, one of Altman's I struggle with. I remember Ross the most from Basket Case 2. I adore Nashville too... tough to call between the two of them which I would rate more highly but cinema doesn’t get much more brilliant than either.
