Probably the best of the post Judgment Day sequels but I know that’s not saying much. Some decent action scenes, like the destructive first chase, but overall it feels superficial. Despite coming 12 years after T2, the visual effects don’t hold up nearly as well; a moment when Arnold puts his nearly decapitated head back on looks bad. Will give credit for its decidedly unhappy ending. Also, breasts. Inflatable breasts.
2.5 out 4

I prefer Terminator Salvation, but Terminator 3 is easily the 4th best Terminator movie. It is laughably redundant of T2 though and the humor goes full on parody at parts. The ending is memorable and makes up for some of what came before and we do get to see Skynet actually begin the process of taking over the world. The villain is forgettable, the action is mostly forgettable, the actors are miscast and Arnold is too old. It is depressing to think that this is from the same director as Breakdown (1997).
5.5/10

T3 is underrated as it's my 2nd favorite movie of the entire series...
1)T2 (1991) - 7/10 (within my Top 157 movies) 2)T3 (2003) - 6.5-7/10 (within my Top 157 movies) 3)T5 (2015) - 6-6.5/10 (within my Top 192 movies) 4)T1 (1984) - 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) 5)T6 (2019) 6)T4 (2009) - 5/10 (Thumbs Down) (the clear weak link of the series as it's the only one not worth re-watching)
but ill have to see how T6 is on a re-watch.

I remember it being decent but nothing special and certainly not necessary. T2 ended things well so why mess with that? I guess Arnold really needed a hit film during the time.

Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) - 3 out of 4 stars
"A sleek, sexy new Terminator (Loken) returns to kill a now grown-up John Connor (Stahl), but a T-101 (Schwarzenegger) is on her trail. Not as innovative as the original, or as overblown as the sequel, this one certainly entertains, with lots of large-scale action and special effects. Its weakest moments: trying to play off Arnold's "I'll be back" catch-lines. Stan Winston's robot creations are as impressive as ever."

Pretty bland followup though Schwarzenegger has his moments. The lady Terminator is hot sure, but she's not intimidating in the slightest. However, that crane truck chase is straight up awesome.

Probably the best since T2, well either this or Dark Fate. Both have their problems and I do think DF is a better put together movie, but T3 is more entertaining.

It was basically just a silly rehash of the 2nd one, never should have been made

I saw this for the first time last year. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was unnecessary, the franchise should have finished at 2. Still, it was ok, no replay value like the first 2 though.

I much prefer Dark Fate, which at least played with the formula a bit. This movie is straight up lazy.

Its biggest problem is that it seems cheap compared to Terminator 2. The last act where they fly out of the army base to the shelter felt like something from the 1960s--cost-cutting. If it was Cameron we would have seen a full-blown attack on the army base.
On the other had, the relationship between Arnie and the adult John Conner was less cringe-worthy than the antics in T2. Arnie was more machine-like. The story was well thought-out as far as an unnecessary sequel goes. If they were going to have a woman terminator counterpart for Robert Patrick then I guess she was about as good as it could be expected to be.

Also from just a visual aesthetic, it looks cheap as well. Cameron shot a movie while this looks shot for TV.

I hear Arnold got $30 million for the role with profit percentage and approval of various people for various positions on the film ( director, cast, stand-in, makeup, etc.), a full gym, chauffeur, airplane, limos, bodyguards, deluxe suites, etc. That's like outdoing the pay and perks Nicholson had for Batman.
Also, maybe it's just me, but it looks like Arnold had some CGI applied to him for the shirtless scenes. He and his physique look too "smooth". Even bodybuilders who compete past 50 don't look so smooth.

Was this before or after his heart operation? There was a pic of him looking like the Flabbinator as he was recovering from surgery.
I remember it being said he didn't look much different (he had plastic surgery for sure since he looked older in the movie he made prior to this. I heard the sequence where the truck drags him through some windows was something he paid to have added.
The part at the end with his face eaten away is more anatomically accurate than in the previous ones-it looks weird to see so much of the face missing.

Not a fan. It's basically a rehash of Terminator 2, but with cringier humour and a painful lack of Linda Hamilton. The sexy female Terminator is decidedly lacking in the intimidation factor that Arnie provided in the original and Robert Patrick achieved once again in the first sequel. The ending is decent, but I could have done without this movie.

Definitely not a fan. It’s not only completely unnecessary, but it’s also downright silly, especially with the whole sexy Terminator angle. Why exactly does she need to suggestively lick people’s blood in order to determine their identity?
