Yet he was attached to a Spider-Man movie back in the 1990s. To be fair, that was before the superhero genre had really established itself in Hollywood. Back then, Superman and Batman were all we had on the big screen.

The other sequels will eventually lead to them traveling to Earth.

Jon Landau: What I'm excited about as we move on in the sequels [is that] each sequel will take us to new places. Each sequel will introduce us to new cultures and new clans of Na'vi. And to me that's exciting because it allows us to reflect on our world. Throughout the process, we want to continue with this idea of connectivity on Pandora; that we are all connected, whether it's through Eywa or other ways. And to remind people here that we are connected and that our actions have an impact on people around us and the world around us. screenrant.com/avatar-3-explore-new-cultures-pandora-producer/

Yet he was attached to a Spider-Man movie back in the 1990s. He was said to be responsible for the organic webshooters which is strange since he was so much into technology that trying to design real ones that worked would have been more likely his style.

Avatar: The Way of Water Puts Most Modern Blockbusters to Shame James Cameron’s sequel to his 2009 epic is proof that cinematic wonder still exists.
These days in Hollywood, scale seems to be one of the easiest things to achieve on-screen. Breakthroughs in visual-effects technology mean that audiences get to watch one epic battle after another, and are accustomed to seeing dozens of superheroes zipping around pointlessly.Priceles.... www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2022/12/avatar-2-way-of-water-movie-review-james-cameron/672448/

Never doubt Big Jim! Avatar: The Way of Water is an indescribable visual spectacle. It's not just a blockbuster done to perfection but an experience that captures the magic of going to the movies
Meticulous world-building as astonishing and enveloping as anything we've ever seen on screen — until that crown is passed, inevitably, in December 2024, the projected release date for Avatar 3.
Avatar: The Way of Water” is a cinematic roller coaster that’s so breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and innovative beyond comprehension, you forget that you’re witnessing history
It’s a leap beyond even what he pulled off with the first film, a phantasmagorical, fully immersive waking dream of a movie in which something impossible is happening on-screen at almost every moment.
James Cameron has surfaced with a cosmic marine epic that only he could make: eccentric, soulful, joyous, dark and very, very blue. Yes, he’s still leagues ahead of the pack.

Cameron has, once again, knocked it so far out of the park that it’s going to take years to retrieve the ball. It is, quite simply, one the best-looking, most deeply felt Hollywood blockbusters we’re likely to experience for some time.
