People fear media that promotes the idea that the establishment isn’t working.
The movie is about
A) Poor people being oppressed by the top 1% B) Admitting that the politicians have failed the mental health industry. C) Treating others with kindness. Not bullying. D) People rising up for their beliefs and standing up for themselves.
And there’s more minor undertones and such. But the point is, the media and government doesn’t want the rats on the hamster wheel to stop running.

I don't understand the violence complaints. It's really not that graphic.

Actually, it was classified "Over 14/15" in a lot of countries and it makes sense. There's no sex and/or nudity and the violence isn't that graphic (especially since they came out the same year as RAMBO PART V: LAST BLOOD). There's swearing, but that's honestly not that big of a deal (unless it's so excessive that it breaks a record, like SOUTH PARK or a Scorsese movie).

D) People rising up for their beliefs and standing up for themselves.. Sure sounds like right wing propaganda to me! Don't forget: E) Guys who can't get laid and blame women for it Wait, no, it's not about that. E) Whites who thinks minorities are treading on them or something Wait, no, it's not about that either. The liberal discourse with this movie is fucking insane.

Cold blooded murder and anarchy isn't people standing up for themselves. It is the system and society have failed them to such an extent that the have snapped. I don't see that as the same thing.

People really are running out of things to complain about. In a different year I might agree with that, but nobody should be running out of things to complain about in 2020.

While I don’t think the film is in any way politically dangerous. I’m still trying to figure out if it’s a great movie.
The good stuff from the film is entirely the performance of Phoenix. It has some decent set designs as well as costumes/wardrobes.
But if not for Phoenix I’m not sure I would have liked the movie. It’s certainly bears no resemblance to any Joker I’ve seen and it would have been better suited to be a Taxi Driver remake.

The good stuff from the film is entirely the performance of Phoenix. Sure, but I loved De Niro´s performance too.

No, but he was pushed to it and felt that was his only way to defend himself because society failed him. I suppose it can be looked at like that. It is a form of self-defense I guess, but not the usual way self-defense is defined. That is where I think my hang-up was. I was using the legal definition.

I could watch Zazie Beetz and Shea Wigham any day if the week. But the roles themselves are nothing special. Even their interactions with Joker don’t elevate the character. I did like his scenes with the butler and Bruce though.

If the radical left and sjws complain about something, you know that thing is doing something right. Long live Joker Why would "radical leftists" hate it? I haven't seen it, but from my understanding it gives a critique of capitalism and wealth inequality and the class tensions that arise from it. If anything the film sounds rather Marxist.
