It was too long... And I've watched plenty of horror. That Bedroom scene was sadistic. Too much. It felt like it was trying too hard to be gross. It was nice seeing Felissa Rose. Can't disagree with any of that. I said way too much about it already, but one of the prevailing issues with it after thinking back all of this time later is that it's definitely too long.

I have an hour left (which means I'm 1.5 in...) and finding myself surprisingly kinda enjoying it. I think it's safe to call Art a great modern horror villain, and even that bizarrely long dream sequence is kinda redeemed by his whacky hijinks. I just wish this director didn't lean so hard into the torture porn stuff. Take that one death: Art bursts in, slashes the girl's face and eye open. Great effect, brutal kill. ...oh, she's still alive. Now he's scalping her and her brain is hanging out. Makes sense that first thing wouldn't instantly kill her, I guess. We cut to...wait, no, she's still ticking. He's stabbing her in the back and skinning her. Alright, fine. Moving on...nope, he's STILL killing her. Now he's breaking her arm until it snaps off. Then leaves her to bleed to death, which probably should have happened like 3 minutes earlier. Finally, the scene is ov---oh, he's back with a bottle of bleach and salt he's pouring on her open wounds. Lovely. Now he's ripping her face off. Wonderful. Then her mom walks in and her tits are cut off and he's going to town on her legs. And this lady must be a t-800 because wouldn't you know it, she's still not dead yet!
I think what I liked about that dream scene is that he just whipped a fucking tommy gun out and killed people.

I agree with what people have been saying about the bedroom scene, it was way over the top and should have been toned down. The fact that even the most hardcore horror fans on here say it was too much should indicate something. And it was absolutely ridiculous that Allie was still alive after all that. I mean, come on!
But inspite of that and the overlong running time, I still enjoyed Terrifier 2.

I wasn't even disturbed by it (once he came back with the salt and bleach it officially entered parody mode), just bored. If Michael Myers took that long to kill people, you'd have to retitle those movies "Halloween + Half of November". But yeah, overall I enjoyed it as well. There was a lot morre of Art just being a trolling goof in this movie which I liked, like his Carrot Top routine with the props in the Halloween store.

I thought it was a vast improvement on its predecessor which was very amateurish (though okay for what it was). This one has a lot more going for it in terms of structure and contains one of the best modern final girls in Lauren LaVera's Sienna Shaw.
It did drag on a bit at times especially during the dream sequence, thankfully it's earlier in the film so it's over with sooner. I also kinda dug the death scene in the bedroom. It just goes all out and doesn't let up and I got to respect that.

I wouldn't say ironically, since I do think the movie is intentionally funny. But for a cheap slasher sequel, especially to two movies I'd give a -5/10 if I could, 5/10 is pretty decent. Notice I haven't really praised a ton about it beyond Art and his shenanigans. I'll go ahead and praise the girl playing his apprentice as well. And that's kinda where it ends. Didn't think much of the other characters, including as I hinted with Jimmy the final girl. She seems firmly in the Jennifer Love Hewitt/Monica Keena mold of heroines cast because of their racks rather than their acting capabilities. We're also talking a killer clown movie that's as long as The Shawshank Redemption.

Obviously didn't think her acting vey good based on the previous comment. She was only well written insofar as she wasn't laughing about people having their faces torn off or playing with dead animals like other characters. And her deal putting at the end largely consisted of a magic dagger cheat code I didn't quite understand or care for.

The two main reasons I didn't watch it until now were because I wasn't crazy about the first one and because of how long it is. After watching it, I do think they probably could have made it shorter, but I actually didn't have a huge problem with the run time.

It started to drag for me a little in the third act, but it wasn't torture or anything. And yeah, I planned on never seeing it (not only do I detest Terrifier 1, but also the anthology film All Hallows Eve Art was introduced in) but the good reviews peaked my interest. Despite the bedroom scene, I actually had less of a problem with the edgelord tone and gore. For me the lady getting sawn in half down the vagina from 1 is still the grosser, more objectionable scene.

The bedroom scene in 2 is so over the top and ridiculous that it becomes almost comical. I might watch All Hallow's Eve today.

Looking back at this thread I feel the same as I did last year and stand by those comments.
But it's undeniable that this movie still has people talking about it a year later, so that's something.

I'm sure it'll be a gory Holiday Slasher... Think I'll wait a few more months before watching part 1 and 2 again. I did buy part 1 on digital. Part 2 on Blu-ray.

I'm sure I'll watch the 3rd, but I don't know that I'll ever watch either of the first 2 again. Not because I'm against them, or because I'm traumatized, or whatever, but just because I don't know that I have an interest. They have their merits and I appreciated each of them to different degrees, but that's about it. But there's enough there to warrant a curiosity about the next one, and I'm always up for a prominent Christmas set horror movie. It would've been cool if the first two weren't on the same holiday so that each one could have had a different holiday theme. Oh well. I'm sure there was never really a plan to get this far to begin with, and switching it up like this is kinda cool, if only superficially.

I see myself watching 3 for Thornton's performance and enjoying the moments where Art trolls people with whacky Christmas pranks, then checking my phone during the five minute scenes where he torures rubbery skinned women in their underwear with blood made of Prego speghetti sauce.

Yeah, pretty much. Although after the first one was criticized for not having characters or a plot Leone overcompensated by writing a script that was about 3 times longer than it should have been. Maybe he'll overcompensate this time and it'll be like 20 mins long.
