ウルトラマンティガ (ULTRAMAN TIGA): THE FINAL ODYSSEY is a disappointing followup to the TV series of the same name due to the excessive buildup. It takes too much time for Daigo Madoka to transform and fight the monsters. When he finally does, it happens in a very dark place where it's hard to make things out. Since they're on an island, there aren't a lot of miniatures. Come on! It's a tradition of the Tokusatsu genre, because gives the viewer a sense of scale. Even when the show had fights outside of a city, you could still see things like transmission towers. Here's a drinking game for you: Take a shot every time Rena Yanase (the title character's fiancée) yells "Daigo!" I like the idea of antagonists who look like the protagonist because, unlike the bulky kaiju costumes, the spandex allows for more movement. Too bad that the fight choreography is pretty lame compared to what the show had to offer. Also, they were introduced as our hero's biggest threat to date, but he defeats each one of them with 1 attack. The climax is essentially a repeat of the final episode: Tiga looks like he has died until some lights bring him back. This time however, he transforms... into Glitter Tiga! My computer screen doesn't have a face and yet I still feel it's giving me a dirty look for typing such a stupid name. 3/10 大決戦!超ウルトラ8兄弟 (SUPERIOR ULTRAMAN 8 BROTHERS) 5/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
