Forbes has listed the most valuable sports teams -
1. Cowboys 2. Yankees 3. Knicks 4. Lakers 5. Warriors 6. Real Madrid 7. Patriots 8. Barcelona 9. Giants (NFL) 10. Manchester United 11. Rams 12. 49ers 13. Bears 14. Dodgers 15. Washington Football Team 16. Red Sox 17. Bulls 18. Cubs 19. Jets 20. Celtics 21. Texans 22. Giants (MLB) 23. Eagles 24. Bayern Munich 25. Broncos 26. Raiders 27. Packers 28. Steelers 29. Seahawks 30. Dolphins 31. Falcons 32. Ravens 33. Vikings 34. Manchester City 35. Colts 36. Clippers 37. Chelsea 38. Nets 39. Chargers 40. Rockets 41. Panthers 42. Mavs 43. Mets 44. Jags 45. Chiefs 46. Saints 47. Arsenal 48. Cardinals (NFL) 49. Cardinals (MLB) 50. Bucs
Any shockers in here? Surprised the Dodgers aren't higher. Surprised the 'Stros with their recent success aren't on the list. And surprised we don't have at least 1 NHL team on there. Wouldn't one think the Maple Leafs or Candadiens in the NHL were valuable - or the Rangers or Pens?

I'm surprised that both the Raiders and Chargers are on the list. Most be solely from moving.

Imagine how valuable the Knicks would be if they had actually won a championship in the last 50 years.....

Looks about like 26 or so NFL teams made the list.
It's got to suck if you're one of the handful that didn't
I'm looking at you Bengals.

4 out the top 5 are NBA teams - then there's like only 6 or so for the remainder of the Top 50.
Shocked the Bulls are still so high - they must be riding Jordan's coattails all of these years later.

Both the Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers are saddened that you didn't put "NFL" next to the team names.

I remember for years we've been getting an annual list on IMDB from various posters over the years - and soccer was represented very well (high).
What happened?

Possible reason: money from TV deals has plateaued over here now. May even start decreasing.

49ers, Bears and Texans - wouldn't have figured any of them to be as high as they are.

I remember when football team made up 4 of the top 5. Not any more alas. Let's see how valuable these clubs are, if they fold the sport season in the US (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), while the Bundesliga and others pull through, maybe even with an audience in the stadiums. Eintracht Frankfurt has already filed a plan for 20,000. While there is no show in the US, the European leagues can compensate the (partial?) loss in tickets sales through expanding in TV-markets without any league sport at all. Here the Yankess for instance: www.statista.com/statistics/827426/new-york-yankees-operating-income/An operating income of 17,5 million over 18 years what equals 0.9722 mill in the average, and from that one has to deduct taxes etc. pp. so that they made nothing in the roughly 20 years. But they are the second most valuable team in the world...my ass. Not impressive. Compared with Bayern, which is way lower in the list: www.statista.com/statistics/283073/profit-after-tax-of-fc-bayern-munich/A 238,2 million net profit with the last 16 year what equals 14.8875 mill in the average, and the trend is very positive. And Bayern's numbers are after taxes, not the operating income like in case of the Yankees. Their (Yankee's) actual net profit is much lower, thus the numbers are even more in favor of Bayern. These numbers are impressive: www.statista.com/statistics/265849/operating-income-of-the-dallas-cowboys/

Kind of sucks if you're an NFL franchise like the Bills, Browns, Bengals, Lions - and not only do you not make the list - but the basketball Nets are worth more than you.

I'd have been shocked if an NHL team made the top 50. The Leafs and Rangers are probably the most valuable and it wouldn't surprise me if neither were even in the top 100.

As a Jets fan, I have to say I have no idea how the Jets are THAT high on the list other than being a New York team. I like the Rams but they strike me as a man without a country. They left St Louie back for L.A and the general attitude seems to be "Eh!" A team that has trouble establishing roots.

How are the Warriors that high on the list when they didn't get their first fan until 2009?

Yeah, and we still do, but here and there I forget to adapt to the English style.
