Hopefully this is based off of Disney having seen Candyman and been impressed and not them just trying to recreate the Wonder Woman/Patty Jenkins It could be based on her well received debut Little Woods. MCU took chances on other indie directors and it paid off - Waititi, Boden & Fleck, John Watts Or hell one could say the Russo brothers was a big gamble. All they had was that Owen Wilson comedy before the CA sequels right? *internet search* Strike that, they did a 2002 comedy named Welcome to Collinwood which has a lot of people in it yet I never heard of it.

Well they had almost a decade of experience on TV as well, they had produced or exec produced multiple shows and shot the pilot and set the tone for half a dozen shows at that point, plus being hired on to CA:TWS a sequel to a $400m movie is a lot smaller stakes than being hired to do a sequel for a $1b movie. I wouldn't doubt though part of this is also hire less experienced movie directors because then they have a cheaper rate and maybe less sticklers for needing to make the movies their way, and so are more malleable to working with Feige and others.

"Captain Marvel 2" has a story now:
Captain Marvel fighting silly aliens with superpowers here and there, cracking one-liners here and there and sharing innocent, CENSORED kisses with a woman.
LMAO.
