It's part of the "dumbification" of society where phones have replaced desktops and laptops and text messages have replaced emails. It's a bit like how Facebook has replaced message boards. Yeah, I suppose so, but still, WTF? They say that 0.1% of the emails aren't opened. First of all, that's creepy, and secondly, so what? That's still a lot of emails. Furthermore, no one was receiving those notifications accidentally and everyone was free to unsubscribe from any of them easier than it was to sign up for them. And this... "our tests showed that when we don't send these emails, more people engage with mobile push notifications and their Subscriptions feed"Well, thank you, Captain Sherlock! Isn't that like saying "when we cut peoples' legs off, we notice more people engaging with wheelchairs"? /rant

I never looked at the email notifications I've been sent.

Thanks. This is off-topic but - is it possible to pm someone on youtube, if they have a channel?

I’ve never used email notifications for YouTube and turned off app notifications but, as I’m on YouTube a lot, I don’t need to be told that there are new videos available. Most of the channels I follow feature old films so perhaps I should get my notifications via telegram.

They’re just getting less and less user-friendly.
