Would you like to see Historical Epics make a comeback? I mean like the big grand Historical Epics of yore. What was the last big one? I don't even know.

Oh I’d love that. I’m actually trying to remember the last big one. Maybe that sequel to 300? Hang on I forgot that John Woo movie Red Cliff which was back in 2009!

They tried to remake Ben Hur. It sucked.
They need to go back to big sets and practical effects. Why CGI Ancient Rome?

Speaking of Rome, I actually forgot about another Ridley Scott movie. Remember when he tried to remake the Ten Commandments? It's okay, I forgot as well. In fact, 2014 was a bad year for the genre. I think Pompeii killed it.

I'd like it because I enjoy those kinds of movies. Can't remember the latest one. The last one I can recall really liking was Kingdom of Heaven (2005).

Aren't they making a sequel to Gladiator? I didn't think there was a huge demand for one.

They should make a historical epic about the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

They should make a historical epic about the Battle of the Little Bighorn. They made an historical epic- comedy about that called Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman .

Troy (2004) was one of the last big swords-and-sandals movies to come out.
Anyway, if the scripts are good, then these kinds of films can make a comeback for sure.

I love that one and practically have it memorized. The depiction of Custer is hilarious. It cracks me up towards the end as Custer's men are being butchered around him and he starts losing it thinking he's talking to Grant.

Yes. I would prefer that to the Super hero genre.
I really want to see that Hannibal Barca trilogy that Vin Diesel wanted to direct.

Nah. It would just be a CGI cartoon, like Midway.

Nah. It would just be a CGI cartoon, like Midway. Yeah the lack of practical effects was a bummer, but I enjoyed the historical accuracy of Midway.

No because the studios live according to the motto: 'The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.'
