Great cartoonish fun. I'm overdue for a re-watch.

I'm guessing this is how Raimi got the job for the Spider-man films. James Cameron was actually supposed to direct a Spider-man film at one point (dunno what happened)

Is that the same one where apparently Parker was turning into an actual Spider? Stan lee said someone was working on a version like that.

Cameron's Spider-man script was idiotic. The Cannon version would have sucked too though--they were far enough in production to have designed Peter Parker's bedroom and he was a heavy metal fan. I don't know why they kept the organic webshooters. Was it because they paid Cameron money and had to use something of his version?
Darkman's flaw is they made him a constant target for jokes which undermined the seriousness of his plight. They should have done a sequel with Bruce Campbell as Darkman.
Great opening scene though.
"Let's consider my points one by one. One, I try not to let my anger get the best of me. Two, I don't always succeed. Three--I have seven more points."

A 90s Spider-man film probably would have aged horribly anyways, so maybe it's better they waited. Even the 2002 movie doesn't look that good by todays standards, I can't imagine what a 1990s version would have looked like.

Just watch the 1990 Captain America by Cannon--that would give you an idea. The director was going to be Albert Pyun.
The only plus side to such a version is more practical stunts and that the Peter Parker would have been closer to the comic. Nicholas Hammond was about as close to 1970s Peter Parker as you can get. The costume was a bit buggy. A big budget Spider-man done in the 70s could have been as memorable as a Superman. Maquire and those that followed are very different from Hammond in type and the cgi in the first movie was bloody awful. They also deviated way too much from the origin in stupid ways.
Defoe was a good choice for the Green Goblin but what an awful costume.

I agree the Green Golbin costume looks bad, but I dunno if there is anyone way they could have made him look good, in the comics he was basically just wearing a Halloween mask. Maybe they could just make him horribly deformed and ripoff the Wishmaster:

The green Goblin seems like a Joker wannabe to me anyway but Defoe was a good choice for it. Just a bad power ranger kind of costume.
The Pyun version was going to have Spider-man facing a creature created from radioactivity too-so the Raimi movie did keep that idea to an extent.
