I like collecting odd bits of information. They reside among the cobwebs in my brain, but they make me a kickass partner in Trivial Pursuit or Pub Crawls.

If there were no spaces between atoms, the entire human race would be no larger than a sugar cube.

* There is a fruit (black sapote) that tastes like chocolate pudding. You really don't want to know what 'natural ingredients' actually means. I think it's raspberry 'natural flavour' which comes from a beaver's ass/taint.

A "jiffy" is actually 1/50th of one second. It's a bit more complicated than that (according to Wikipedia):

Each second, the Sun loses around 2,000,000 tons (by converting 600 million tons of hydrogen into 598 million tons of helium per second).

Each second, the Sun loses around 2,000,000 tons (by converting 600 million tons of hydrogen into 598 million tons of helium per second). Earth is about 7 minutes of light time away from the Sun. Once the Sun goes out, Earth won't realize it for that full 7 minutes or so. If I read correctly one time.

1 cubic km cloud (km 3) weighs around 550 tons. 550,000 kilograms / 1.1 million pounds of water weight.

I love Roadside America-like attractions. I can”t think of a culture that goes to such trouble just to be architecturally goofy. Repurposed Muffler Man on Route 66. Hungry? SoCal. Sleep with the fishes? India...they know how to be silly too. What’s South Carolina got that Georgia ain’t got? It’s pronounced Gaif-ney. Now where did I leave my hotel key? Maryland. Hmm. There's just something not quite right about that peach. I can't put my finger on it...

* Rollercoasters were invented to distract Americans from sin (1880's - to keep them away from brothels)
* Sloths can hold their breath longer than dolphins can.
* Supermarket apples can be a year old.
* It is impossible to hum while holding your nose.
* People used to say "prunes" instead of "cheese" when having their pictures taken.
* Lobsters taste with their feet.

America is not the only crazy country to have goofy roadside attractions. Here in Australia we have a raft of 'The Big.........' the big merino The big prawn The big pineapple The big potato...The Big Potato is only one of a loosely related set of about 150 sculptures and large structures sprinkled across the country. Most of these, the Big Potato included, serve as some of the country’s top tourist traps and can be found along major roads and highways or between prominent travel destinations. The big banana etc etc etc
