Or 4 movies in 39 years for my answer, The Evil Dead. Scream 1 is leagues better than its sequels and the third flat out kinda sucks. I agree, though the remake/sequel is not good imo. It completely misses why the first 3 are so effective. The silliness. I agree. I disagree, though I sympathize. It is the worst of the 4. I definitely prefer my Evil Dead silly, although the remake was fine for what it was.

Easier to stay consistent when your franchise only has 4 movies in 23 years. Or 4 movies in 39 years for my answer, The Evil Dead. Scream 1 is leagues better than its sequels and the third flat out kinda sucks. I like Raimi's trilogy, but the remake was pretty mediocre. I do agree the first Scream is far better than the sequels, but I don't dislike any of them.

At least there was effort put into it, I just don't think the effort pays off. It is basically just a high budget more serious version of the first film, which takes away a lot of what makes the original fun. I also don't think it is scary or creepy in the slightest. It is just dark and brooding and that is very different.

Eh, there was some gnarly violence. And the hero subversion got me. Bare in mind, the original was supposed to be serious as well, it just ended up silly.

I only care about gore if I care about the story. The characters and execution of the story bored me.

I like Hellbound for its world-building and it had about the same creep factor as the original, even if it’s not technically as smart or scary. My favorite version of Hell in a movie is The House That Jack Built btw. I still need to give that film a watch.
