Could Dolores Claiborne have been found guilty?

The way her husband dies, with the hole in the ground out in the middle of a bushy field, how could it ever be proven that Dolores had conspired to make it happen? Mackie may have had his suspicions, but I just don't see how any kind of a case could get made. There's just no way that I could see.

Any other points of view on this?
