No, although I did neglect to mention my distaste for torture-porn type horror films.

Horror can be fun. Sadistic marathons less so.

Didn't watch the vid but horror should be problematic.

No. However that guys whiny voice and moronic face grimaces etc... made it too annoying for me to watch the video for very long.

I didn’t take the bait and play the video at all. That probly means I'm too cynical, but I could have guess how annoying this video would be just from the title.

He shouted out the youtube channel Dead Meat...to which I subscribe and definitely recommend for any horror fan. They have a back catalog of about 3 years of "Kill Count" episodes and a whole bunch of other fun videos. Check em out.

No.
In fact, morally questionable movies are often interesting and make me reflect on my own morality. I like when movies push the boundaries of good taste, though I have my limits as well. I like provocative subject matter, within reason. Something like A Serbian Film is where I draw the line.
The horror genre is simply too repetitive and horror movies aren't very well made or well written in general. These movies are often boring, especially the torture porn and slasher films. I can only watch people be killed in different ways for so long before I start completely losing interest. I need more than that. These movies don't offend me as much as they just bore me.
It is the most copy-and-paste genre, because horror movies are often cheap to produce and that will lead to a lot of profit.

It's alive, but that's about all it is.
As to the previous comment about modern slashers killing horror. Zombies went through something similar, they were scary in the 60s, then they became commonplace and were everywhere, and I think it was Tom Savini who said after zombies were used in beer commercials, and of course Michael Jackson's Thriller, HOW were they going to make zombies scary again? But they did, with the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. So all that really needs to happen is somebody with an actual brain needs to come up with an actual scary concept again, and figure out how to execute it.

I noticed that you gave my response a "like," but the horror genre has been at it's best since the 1980's the last 5 years or so. This is of course my subjective opinion. The slasher movie and torture porn has more or less ran it's course and now we are into a more interesting phase of horror. There have been an abundance of creative and unique visceral artistic well made horror films in the past 5 years. I actually dislike Night of the Living Dead and the remake is even worse. Interesting social commentary aside, the original is a bore when it comes to almost any other aspect. The opening and closing scenes are the only fully effective scenes in the entire movie.

Can't agree. I'll echo the other sentiments above... or at least the first paragraph. There are obviously more horror movies being made these days than ever before, as there are simply more movies and overall content now than ever before. That brings us a lot of good and a lot of bad as well. But I think the quality of horror in this past decade has been beyond what it has in a while. Real filmmakers and real artists are engaged in the genre. I have little perspective on what's 'scary' but I think some of the most interesting and audacious filmmaking has been in horror in recent years, and that opens up more opportunities for good work to be continued. I'll reiterate: Alive and well.

No, horror -- like comedy -- should always push and provoke and audiences should approach it at their own discretion.
Also, thanks for dumping a YouTube video into your thread and not following it up with any thoughts of your own. Classy.
