This video explains exactly what’s wrong with movies today and uses “Us” by Jordan Peele to make his point.
Excellent watch.

This. I wasn't even a huge fan of US but the man is good at crafting atmosphere and suspense.

This. I wasn't even a huge fan of US but the man is good at crafting atmosphere and suspense. But the point is, he’s not great at substance in the script. Making things tangible. He’s great at atmosphere and suspense, but the plot makes no sense and a lot of times the characters motivations make no sense. It’s a perfect example of theme being so great people forget substance. We ignore the plot holes.

He’s not a hack, but I don’t think he’s yet shown himself to be a great director. Get Out is well-done if not especially frightening, but his script is a bit of a mess, and the character motivations make little sense. Us is just plain weak, which is too bad because the premise is great. He didn’t direct or write the one episode of his Twilight Zone I saw. All in all, I find his direction much better to his writing—which is somewhat ironic, since he started off in comedy-writing.

That guy's channel preview video is called "Fixing Rey", with another one called "Fixing Captain Marvel". I question if "themes" are his main problem with Jordan Peele.

He also said Justice League sucks. But likes Wonder Woman ...It’s not what you think. He’s a writer and he talks about valid points.

His ilk are on record for hating Justice League because it toned down the right wing edgelord sensibilities of Snyder's vision. I also watched his Watchmen video, and he's EXACTLY what I think, managing to squeeze in references to "purple haired land-whales" and Disney conspiracies in a video that has nothing to do with either. Oh, and he hates the TV show...the one that opened with the Tulsa massacre and starred a black lady. Wonder if that hate has anything to do, you know, "themes".

He hates Prometheus and Alien Covenant, the new Predator, Jurassic World etc... I think he hates lazy writing and new age reboots as well as films about visual spectacles they make no sense and use plot devices like “magic force fields” or whatever to explain things just to make the movie do whatever it wants.

I hope you're being sarcastic by praising this video. It's everything that's wrong with film criticism: Extremism for the sake of comedy, especially when the critic has a routine/gimmick, like talking like a drunk (which is actually more annoying than funny). I know we all feel a certain aversion towards an overrated or underrated movie when our opinion is different than everyone else, but a good critic knows when to take a deep breath. It's true that themes and symbolism don't automatically make a movie good, because there are other writing elements. However, the right method would be to analyze the movie as a whole and to point out major flaws in the script. Taking minor flaws out of proportion and basing your entire opinion on that is wrong. Some of his arguments aren't even real nitpicks, because he asks for information that wasn't (and arguably didn't need to be) shown in the movie, instead of pointing out implausible things happening on screen. Just because viewers don't see something, it doesn't mean it don't exist. He claims that the movie breaks its own rules and then claims that the movie never bothered to establish its rules. Which one is it? It can't be both. moviebuffbrad has a point, based on this guy's comments on BLACK PANTHER and Amy Schumer in this video. And one of his recent videos is "BIRDS OF PREY is a garbage movie." Obviously, people have a right to dislike all these things, but this guy seems to have a bias.

I think he's talented and don't consider him to be a hack. I enjoyed 'Get Out' a great deal. I think 'Us' is stylish and well acted, but the script isn't as strong, and some of the satirical sideswipes are downright clumsy - I remember one line of political dialogue irked me in particular.

Poole is benefiting from the politics of the media companies (it it's white it can't be right). As black directors go I liked William Crain's two AIP films especially Blacula and he seemed to be shunned by the studio system (you would think Blacula was famous enough to guarantee more directing work) but forcing diversity on the public by eliminating choice is not going to make less-talented filmmakers seem better, it will just sour the movie experience (which has been happening for some time as merit is replaced by an insincere message agenda).
Poole, Rian Johnson, Abrams, Nolan, none of these people could hold a candle to directors of 30 or 50 years ago in talent. They are not the A-Team, more like the C or D Team.
Remaking the Twilight Zone (again) and doing it because you have a black director is not climbing the summit of creative ambition or initiative.

Oh look, the Nazi pigfuck from the Politics board is stating the contrary to what film scholars and actual critics argue in regards to talented filmmakers like Nolan and Peele. Zzzzz
