Saw her on the big screen in "One Million Years BC," although at the time I was really too young to appreciate all she had to offer. When I got my first very-own television set in 1982 the first movie I watched on it was "100 Rifles." Happy 80th, Raquel.

Lady in Cement 100 Rifles
James Mason famously once said of Raquel Welch, that she was "the most selfish, ill-mannered, inconsiderate actress that I have ever had the displeasure of working with."

She said John Richardson was prettier than her in One Million Years BC and despite efforts to make him look rougher it didn't work.
Scary thing is I saw a fairly recent pic of her next to her daughter who looked older than her!

It's my birthday as well, so happy I share it with Raquel!
Some other cool birthdays today? Well, we got Freddie Mercury, Michael Keaton, Bob Newhart, and Werner Herzog.
As you can plainly see, the coolest of the cool were born on September 5th. 😎

I'm not really a fan but I like 'Hannie Caulder'. She loves Joan Collins.

Always seemed horribly self absorbed when I saw her interviewed.

"...with many posters sold and hanging on walls in many teen boys rooms." I later went to the theater to see Kansas City Bomber (1972). It wasn't that good, but I didn't go for the story.

'Well I'm not the kind to kiss and tell but I've been seen with Farrah. I've never been with anything less than a nine, so fine.
I've been on fire with Sally Field gone fast with a girl named Bo. But somehow they just don't end up as mine.
It's a death defying life I lead I take my chances. I'd die for a living in the movies and TV. But the hardest thing I ever do is watch my leading ladies kiss some other guy while I'm bandaging my knee.
I might fall from a tall building I might role a brand new car. 'Cause I'm the unknown stuntman who made Redford such a star.
I never spent much time in school but I taught ladies plenty. It's true I hire my body out for pay. Hey Hey!
I've gotten burned over Cheryl Tiegs blown up for Raquel Welch. But when I wind up hittin' the hay, it's only hay. Hey Hey!
I might fall from a tall building or Tarzan from a vine. 'Cause I'm the unknown stuntman who made Eastwood look so fine.'

When I was a nipper with my first film Guide (The Allens Sunday Times) she was the reigning sex symbol of the day. RIP

The only film where she impressed me by her performance was 3 musketeers. I liked her as the self absorbed mother in Legally Blonde but it was more of a caricature than a cameo. None the less, she ends an era with her death. RIP

My Raquel Welch recollection: Opening night of the 1973 Los Angeles International Film Exposition (FILMEX) featured the world premiere of Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers at the Paramount Theater (now the Disney El Capitan) on Hollywood Blvd. The packed lobby was truly SRO and if someone in the crowd had passed out, they wouldn't even have had room to fall down. When the auditorium doors were opened, it was as though a tide carried this broad sea of humanity toward them, squeezing it like piping from a pastry bag through those doors, and I found myself momentarily pressed, um, chest-to-chest with Miss Welch. Photographically, she always appeared so statuesque, but she actually seemed rather petite in stature. Motion pictures really are a great magnifier. It was quite a memorable night, not only for that - or even for Rosalind Russell and L.A. Mayor Tom Bradley getting streaked onstage - but for the film itself. Like marshamae , I was impressed with Welch, and director Lester's antic sense of fun seemed to bring out the best in her.

R.I.P. She was on a beautiful poster in The Shawshank Redemption, too.
The warden called her Miss Fuzzy Britches or something.
She was quite stunning.
