From an interview with Forbes:
“That’s in process. We went down a route to try and reinvent the wheel with Prometheus and Covenant. Whether or not we go directly back to that is doubtful because Prometheus woke it up very well. But you know, you’re asking fundamental questions like, ‘Has the Alien himself, the facehugger, the chestburster, have they all run out of steam? Do you have to rethink the whole bloody thing and simply use the word to franchise?’ That’s always the fundamental question.”

I want a fucking ending to the David trilogy and that is because of the David character as played by Michael Fassbender only.
I don't need any more Alien movies. We didn't need a prequel trilogy in the first place and we certainly don't need more of the same. What else can be done with this?
Especially without Sigourney Weaver. The Aliens themselves are not that interesting, it is the actors and directing that make these movies work and I say that this franchise has ran it's course. We have seen the xenomorphs do everything at this point.

I really liked the proposed concept for Alien 5 (the military uses the Xenomorphs as weapons). Dunno if I want Sigourney back though, the only way they can bring her back is if it's:
A. A direct sequel to Alien Resurection (does anyone really want that?) B. Ignore Alien 3 (they could just do that whole "it was all a dream" bullshit) C. Make her another clone or a cyborg.
All of these would be quite undesirable.

I'd be more interested in John McTiernan doing another Predator film (dunno if that's feasible at this point though)

He wants the money. I heard he had a massive ego fight with Cameron about Avatar-he was jealous of it and wanted to do his own (Prometheus) but was forced to link it to the Alien universe. I wonder if Nolan bugs him--since he gets to make expensive non-franchise movies.

I don't really think you can do more with the franchise anyway except for the inevitable remake/reboot or a sequel that will basically rehash/retread and/or try to outdo Alien/Aliens.

I also don't see how you can top the high school production of "Aien: The Play" that was done a year ago. You know your franchise is in trouble when a bunch of high school kids with a shoestring budget can put on a better production than a big-budget franchise film like Alien: Covenant.

Maybe he needs a bigger house or something? Anyway, unless they take over the planet or something, what else is there?

Blomkamp's idea to erase the travesty "Alien 3" and continue with Hicks and Newt staying alive HAS to be carried out even if re-casts are needed to make it happen.

All of these would be quite undesirable. It was interesting and feasible how Ripley came back with DNA in Alien Resurrection and I am not a hater on the film like many. I even like Alien 3 - 92', (both cuts), however, I can see how it disappointed many with the death of Newt, but 6yrs later, it would have been jarring having another actress in the role.
A story could have been written to have actress Carrie Henn older and then continue on, but she may not have been available. Killing her off made sense with the plot diversion they took, but jarring as well. I also think the death of her character both disturbed and frustrated many viewers too, especially after the memory of the terrific Aliens - 86' and all that Ripley went through to save her and she was just a kid. I don't mind Alien: Ressurection (still better than AvP), but I dunno how feasible cloning Ripley would have been (her DNA would have been completely destroyed in the lava pit). Resurection was the first one to use CGI aliens though and it's actually aged worse that the first two because of it.

Seeing articles like this make me despise Hollywood. If they Greenlight this ffs the franchise will never end

I don't think any franchise will ever truly end as long as it has the possibility and capacity to make money. The studios aren't always going to bank on original films.

I'm kinda wondering if they should just copy the story to the video game "Alien: Isolation" and have it star Ripley's daughter who goes looking for her.
