I mean I don't hate them and I'll go see ones I'm interested in, but it's as if there's just no other type of movie left to talk about.

They do over saturate the market. Hell, 2020 is the first time in a long time with no MCU entry, due to COVID-19.

Not really.

They do over saturate the market. No, they're just the ones that get the most exposure/marketing, partly due to how big their budgets are. The truth is that there are only 3-10 superhero movies released each year.

The amount of them has lessened a little in recent years even though they are still regularly released.

I don’t mind them, but I just wish studios would spread the wealth a bit.
Instead of putting 800 million into 5 Superhero films or whatever ...
Put 300 million in to 2 really high quality ones. Then put some into an original Blockbuster. End of the world disaster film, or an 80s style hard “R” action film, a great Western, an old style Epic (e.g. Braveheart, Titanic, Lawrence of Arabia).

It's the Big Beatdown climax in every film that I find stupefying.

No, but I understand the complaint that they tell the same story. Even the MCU movies which I love have a formula to them. I’d like if someone made a different sort of superhero movie that crossed into different genre like horror or western.

I feel the same way. I happen to love superhero movies. But even I want more variety of films from other genres.

No, I'm not. There's been on average of less than 10 superhero films a year compared to the vastness of drama films and comedies. The problem is that they take a lot of oxygen out of the air from other lesser-known or less-advertised movies.

They are the same basic story told over and over again. How can you not get tired of it after 20 years of them.

No. They are still in the vast minority of movies that are released.
There are plenty of other movies to talk about.

I have never NOT been tired of them. Ever since the massive hype avalanche ahead of the release of the original "Spider-Man" (2002) I have been tired of them. I feared several years in a row would give us virtual remakes but I could never in all my nightmares thought that they would go on for two decades.

No. They are still in the vast minority of movies that are released. There are plenty of other movies to talk about. I answered your question. What's the issue? Perhaps if you made the question more specific. More original Superhero stories, less sequels, less reboots, putting more thought into the screenplays and originality in the directing etc. Then again that is what I would say is wrong with Hollywood movies in general these days, not just superhero movies. I'll take superhero movies over Fast and the Furious movies, Star Wars movies and Disney remakes all day every day. Sadly those and Christopher Nolan movies make up almost the entire huge budget movies. I wish there was more variety.

I answered your question. What's the issue? It's such a condescending argument to say "Oh well most movies aren't superhero movies, so it's not a valid argument". Obviously not every single movie that comes out is a superhero movie, but no one can argue that they don't dominate the box office most discussion on modern cinema revolves around them. I'd say about 75% of the discussion on this board is about superhero movies.

What bothers you is that they are the most popular. That is just supply and demand. My intent wasn't to be condescending. I was being honest about my thoughts on the matter.

I enjoy superhero movies, but could stand a little variety.
