Okay, so as expected it looks absolutely amazing. I love the brown/yellow/red desert-like palette that they seem to go for. It's a palette that can easily become boring if not handled well, but it looks so vibrant and beautiful in the trailer. Also, this is most excited I've ever been about a worm. And I know the reason why they use it is because the actual score isn't finished yet, but I'm usually not a big fan of using an existing song in a movie that won't likely feature in the movie. But this is an exception, the use of Pink Floyd in Dune's trailer is nothing short of incredible. If there's one word to describe it, it's 'epic'. Whether it's a hit or a flop, it's gonna be ambitious and epic either way. My most anticipated movie of 2020 and the trailer confirms my excitement.

My issue is that the trailer seems directed more at Dune fans than the regular moviegoer, who likely has no idea what Dune is and could be confused and turned off. To their eyes it might look pretty generic, like another John Carter.

Visually this looks impressive. Not quite on the same level as BR 2049 but still full of impressive and stunning shots. The action looks exciting, and overall I am still curious. Plus that was a great use of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon.
Looks like an impressive adaptation.

An analyst estimates that even with the release date being pushed back, Dune can still gross a $1 billion.

Still planning to give this a shot, but at home, when it comes out on DVD.

Still planning to give this a shot, but at home, when it comes out on DVD. Not in a theater? It’d probably look amazing.

I don't plan to go back inside a theatre until the area I live in has a "general population has had both shots" level of above 80. Right now, we aren't even at 50% vaccinated. And as for streaming, I've got dial-up internet so that isn't gonna happen.

They should have done a two part film. Just like they did with kill bill 1 and 2. And have a run time of 3 hours for each one. Now that, would have been interesting.

Was on Tumblr the other day, and saw a post where this woman said she hoped the new DUNE movie was a massive success so we'd get all the Duncan Idaho clones in all the sequels, and had a picture of Jason Momoa as Idaho so I think there is an audience out there, even if they aren't scifi nerds like me. If this does well, and a second movie telling the latter half of the book, does well... I wonder how far they would be willing to go into the world of Dune?

Villeneuve is not a director that typically holds anything back.
