Fought on this date in 1759. Pivotal battle in the "French and Indian War" phase of the Seven Years War. Odd battle because it's the only large battle I've found where both commanders, British James Wolfe and French Louis Montcalm, died in battle. Closest I've seen is Okinawa. US commander Simon Buckner was killed by a sniper and Japanese commander Mitsuru Ushijima committed suicide. Close but not quite. If anyone knows of another, I'm all ears.

It's the only one that I know of. Wolfe died rather early in the battle but lived long enough to know that he had won it. Montcalm was killed during the retreat as I recall.
