It occurred to me that each death gets progressively sillier/less realistic. I know people will argue that Quint's death scene was horrifying and I wouldn't disagree here, but it was also kind of over the top. I will always argue that Christie's death was the most disturbing and seemingly realistic.

Well if someone got eaten the way Quint did, wouldn't it have looked exactly like that?

I always wondered if he could have rolled off to the side and maybe grabbed the side of the ship.

No issues with Quint.
It looked as good as it could look with a robotic shark.
The least realist one is the one guy the kids in the cove area.
That death was too ninja shark like.
Still it was cool to see a leg flopping around.

I always wondered if he could have rolled off to the side and maybe grabbed the side of the ship. Lol! I think about those things, too. Like if Chrissie could have managed to climb on top of the buoy. Obviously there would be no way she could manage it. But, gosh, did I feel sorry for her! Or maybe the kid could have smacked the shark in the face with his yellow rubber raft. With Quint, I think the slope put him at a great disadvantage for combat. P.s. I have to ask you. Who is the guy in your avatar? He makes me smile every single time. (Sorry if I asked you this before)

Ben Gardners always seemed strange. The boat was damaged but afloat, and Ben Gardner was inside...how'd he die? I always wanted to see what was left of him to get a better idea cuz his head and torso are still intact.

It definitely was. And it was added later after filming had essentially wrapped because spielberg wanted a jump scare there. I think it was even filmed in his pool or something. But it always bugged me not to know what happened there more specifically.

Actually, from the vantage point of the beachgoers, the little boy's death looks the most realistic.

I saw pics of the Gardner boat attack-they did film it.
That guy in the row boat had a strong accent.
"Hey, you guys ok over dere?"

As an adult, I can say that the first death in the movie is the most effective, but when I was a kid, the death of that little boy Alex was the one that bothered me the most.

By that point, the movie earned it.

I've always been most horrified by the attack on Chrissy(the gal who decides to go skinny dipping) at the beginning.

At the end of the day, Jaws is a monster movie about a shark that's bigger, smarter, and possibly more psychotic than any Great White on record. Saying it's unrealistic is like saying King Kong is unrealistic.
