Art Carney won Best Actor that year over Pacino & Nicholson.

Yeah, Pacino & Nicholson were considered a 2 horse race...but as I recall when Carney's name was called as the nominees were announced he got the biggest cheer. An upset seemed possible, and so it was.
Good movie by the way.

I’ll have to check it out. Sounds interesting. Why is it your favorite movie all time? Excellent writing and actin... It covers every thinkable universal theme. It has humor, and tragedy. It's a fun adventure and meaningful. I guess its just a feeling. I compare it to my other favorites, and it tops them.
