I love to sleep, but at the same time I find myself fighting it all the time, basically every night. I have to practically pass out in my chair before I will permit myself to crawl into bed.
I do know that the idea of going to bed before I am actually sleepy and having to wait on sleep scares me. I cannot control my brain's thoughts coming to me and having to try and sleep on cue is just awful. I envy people who can fall asleep within 15-20 minutes of getting into bed.
All this reminds of something Tallulah Bankhead said "I have three phobias... I hate to go to bed. I hate to get up. And I hate to be alone."
I very much am pestered by the first two.

And all this time I thought I was the only one with that problem.

And all this time I thought I was the only one with that problem. You're definitely not alone.

Listen to audiobooks or podcasts or something drowsy.
I'd put sleep ahead of water & behind only air for functioning priority. Fighting something your body wants is a losing battle, with other effects to come yes?

Fighting something your body wants is a losing battle, with other effects to come yes?Yes, I know. That's part of why it's so troubling to me. The other thing I find disturbing is why I would want to fight sleep. I think it must have to do something with the fact that in lying down in bed for the purpose of sleeping means going from conscious to subconscious and that's a huge drop. I don't know for sure. But I know what Tallulah Bankhead meant.
