So, shamefully, we didn't realize that the two cans of Fancy Feast we fed them this morning were the last cans of food in the house. We thought we had some more in the basement pantry. Turns out we didn't. So, we have hard food, which they hate, plus it's for older cats (weight). I decided to spike it with some kitty treats since the size and color is about the same (the shape is a little different), mix it up, and maybe they'd eat it. Who said cats were stupid? They picked out all the treats, ate them, but left the rest of the hard food. :none:: Husband is brining more food home tonight. I mean, it's not that they'll start. They could probably live off their fat for days. And there is the hard food if they get hungry! Jeez, I'm talking like I feel guilty!!!!

When I was growing up, one of our neighbors had an albino cat with red eyes. She was deaf, but what a pretty cat!
A former schoolmate of mine is very active in controlling the feral cat population near a city where she lives. They trap, neuter and release. They leave food for them. They have them inoculated so kitty diseases don't spread. I think if you're going to feed feral/strays, you also need to ensure they don't grow or sicken the population. My cats are indoor cats, but I still have them get their shots (whatever is required each year).

And I'd hate to see them euthanized.
Same here.

My cats just try to eat each other's food. Assholes Mine eat ONLY out of their bowls. THey KNOW! She's on the left; he's on the right. THey have a ritual while we're putting the food in their bowl. We put a paper towel on the counter to place their food bowls on. While we're opening the cans, she will sit there, and he will come up to her and start grooming her! They've always done this! I think they developed this routine before we adopted them. It's so cute! When we put the bowls down, she'll run over to hers, but he has to be pet before he'll go to his bowl.
