In Bruges, I probably had no idea what to expect, but certainly not the genius it delivered. Saw, I wasn't anticipating as psychological. Galaxy Quest, I was ready for garbage. It's a terrific rainy day/sick day movie. The Matador, was expecting vanilla lameness from a known cast. It's very good. What about Stand By Me?

I've seen it through 3 life lenses - as a kid fun with all the swearing, as young adult emotional turns, & adult as life perspectives. My father died when I was 12. The film essentially revolves around being 12 & life & friends. Not to sound heavy at all either, it's all part of everything.

Million Dollar Baby. I was expecting it to be basically a female version of Rocky.

Evil Dead 2. I was expecting it to be a true horror movie like the first one was. Instead its one of the most laugh out loud comedies ever. I hated it when I saw it the first time because I didn't get it, but now I love it. Hilarious!
And In Bruges was unexpectedly great too.

Vulger - Judging by the preview I thought it was going to a crude comedy but its about a dark drama about a clown who gets raped and blackmailed.

I didn't know American Psycho was a dark comedy until seeing it.

Better Watch Out. I was expecting a home invasion movie around Christmas, but it ended up being something totally different.

Stargate (1994)
When I saw the trailers, I was expecting to see a film, along the lines of 'Star Wars', or 'Star Trek'...
But instead the film was more like 'Indiana Jones'...
I guess that is what happens, when the trailers show nothing but Science Fiction scenes, and leaves out all the Sand and Archaeology stuff...
Thankfully, I still enjoyed the film, and it and the TV shows become one of my favorite franchises.
