I just want to get to April. My doctor recommended mid-October, so that's what we're doing. Who knows. We got ours in late September last year, and were fine. So confusing. The CDC site seems to imply dont get them in July. Get them by the end of October. There are always caveats aren't there!? I wish they'd all land on one recommendation! Won't it be interesting when (if) the COVID-19 vaccine is ready? Especially with no history! Oy!

My daughter has so many blood tests/exams. I can't be weak about it. But I was just like you! I remember telling friends in 4th grade: I will never marry because you have to get a blood test! LolIs that something that is still relevant in the US? What was the purpose of it? It was the practice to find venereal disease Only Montana still requires it. That's a change!

I don't recall ever really getting a sore arm or feeling unwell after getting a flu shot.
But I did get a shingles shot, and yowza! That set me back for almost a whole week! My arm got bright red and swollen and puffy, it was very, very painful, and I also felt unwell for several days. My arm got so tight and hot, it was hard to move, I ran a fever, my body was stiff, similar to flu-like symptoms, and then it went away. But I was miserable.
They warned me the shingles shot was a doozy, and they were certainly right!
I'm going to get my actual flu shot within the next 2 weeks so that it'll carry me over through the winter and into Spring

Curiously, Catman had no reaction to the shingles shot. Neither did Catwoman.

Curiously, Catman had no reaction to the shingles shot. Neither did Catwoman. I'm pretty sure I didn't have much reaction to my shingles shot, either. On the other hand, I usually have a slight to moderate reaction to my annual flu shot: stiff arm, chills, sometimes a touch of fever. But it sure beats getting the flu itself! As for the COVID vaccine, though I am by no means an anti-vaxxer, I don't trust any medication rushed through trials, with questionable safeguards, just to gratify the current POTUS.

That's the latest, and we had it over a year ago. Our doc recommended it over the single-shot.

Now I have to call my doctor and ask if I have to go back for the 2nd shot. They probably told me but I hurt so much I just wanted to get out of there. I have to go back for blood work and stuff in a few months, but I don't remember off hand, them saying I had to come back. I just remember them telling me that I have to get a flu shot. They didn't get their stock in yet and weren't due for a few weeks, so they suggested I just go to my pharmacy. Other than that, my foggy memory doesn't recall anything about coming back for a follow-up shingles shot. I really, really, reeeaaallly hate the shingles shot. Grrrrr.

We had received the single dose at 60 then when the 2 shot vaccine was available we got that. My husband got a rash/bumps after the shot. His doctor thought that was a light case of shingles! The doctor didn't seem concerned nor did he know the answer to 'will he get further episodes of shingles.'

My doctor recommended waiting a little while yet before getting a flu shot and since I pay him well for his advice, I'm going to take it. I get the flu shot most years because my healthy insurance pays for it and it only takes a second.
