Viewed this last night on Netflix.
I loved the overall feel of this film and the understated way in which it was told. Excellent production values, and a really stellar cast.
However, there was a point in the film that it suddenly hit me as a soap opera. If they had changed that one plot device, the movie would have been a 10/10 for me. I rated it a 7. The outcome could have been the same had they pursued the line of her being undocumented rather than what they used.

I guess no one saw it.

I saw it. James Gray is one of the few contemporary directors whose work I still follow. Needless to say, I liked it. Some critics, however, complained the movie was too slow and the director told them to go f**k themselves.

I agree. Luckily, there are countless lesser cinematic achievements out there to put them back to sleep satisfy them.

I watched it 2 years ago, I guess. I rated it 7/10 too. I liked it, very beautiful (and depressing) movie, very well acted. I had no problem with the pacing, as well.

I've seen it, but found the whole thing drab and quite aesthetically unpleasant -- the whole thing just looked like it reeked of stale cabbage.
But I'm glad you liked it.
As far as immigrant chicks go, Brooklyn (2015) is more my speed . . .

I even own it on Bluray. Speaking of James Gray, anyone knows if there's a Bluray copy of Little Odessa?

Googled Little Odessa blu-ray and looks like there is. You won't find it on The Pirate Bay. I checked. Didn't investigate any further.

Yeah true, that was the point. Have you seen Hester Street (1977)?
