In any event, action scenes are hard to do underwater and the marketing of the movie was muddled.
It's a great movie though.

The stiff competition hurt it at the box office - Indiana Jones 3, Ghostbusters II, Batman, etc.

I tried watching it, found it quite dull. Though my interest in Cameron is mostly limited to Alien and his Terminator films.

No Arnold, no other major stars (Tom Cruise passed on the Lt. Coffey character), a story not based on a previously established property, studio interference (which made the theatrical cut incomplete). It could have been worse, it wasn't the virtual death knell for its studio like Heaven's Gate was.
