I highly HIGHLY recommend trying these movies in Black and White. It’s amazing how watching them this way transformed my opinion of the films. I always liked them, but now I think of them as masterpieces. The B&W versions really enhance the expressionist sets/cinematography. I began to appreciate dozens of shots that I never fully did in the original versions. These films are essentially directed in the style of 1930s horror movies. Having watched them numerous times in color it is a hard adjustment. I won’t always watch them this way, but it’s certainly worth doing at least once.

These movies would definitely benefit from being seen in black-and-white because of their film noir-like qualities.

I'd give this a shot. I always thought the wacky pastel color took away from the film. Good acting and story, perhaps not edited well?
