"Jack" is one of the most overused first names for male characters when it comes to Hollywood movies.

"Jack" is one of the most overused first names for male characters when it comes to Hollywood movies. Same with "John". Too many male main characters in action movies are either named "Jack" or "John".

Nicholson has always been accused of being "just Jack" in a lot of his popular films so it would make sense to have "Jack" be the name of his character.
