I wasn’t big on the original but soldiered onto the first sequel. Some fairly gruesome moments but not enough to make it anything beyond average. When the Chennard Cenobite appears, it is more stupid than scary. He is moved around by a giant tentacle stuck to his head and his palms shoot out snakes, which can be turned into knives and stabbing weapons. Mixed feelings about when the Cenobites remember their humanity, only to be immediately killed.

This whole shit series has aged quite poorly, and they are not even that old. Chennard Cenobite and his stupid one-liners should have been left out, but otherwise the Leviathan/labyrinth part is the most interesting one. At least they had enough courage and ambition to do something different. It gets pretty weird for a relatively mainstream horror.

Cenobites you met and where they pricks? Asking where they pricks? Never felt the need to ask Pinhead for a dick pic.

9/10 I always really enjoyed it. I love the dark gothic and grim tone of the first two films. I like part 3 as well but Pinhead is more like Freddy there.

The original Hellraiser is a masterpiece. Hellbound is pretty good too.

The Hellraiser series has never been my fave...but I do enjoy the first two. In the second one, I like them wandering thru hell...and I loved Channards reaction when his Cenobite form is revealed. His line ‘And to think I hesitated.’ to me encapsulates the Cenobites perfectly with their combination of pleasure and pain.

For what it’s worth I hated his design as well. The tentacle carrying him didn’t do much for me. I love the 4 main Cenobites tho. Even tho I’m not big on gore the Cenobite designs are wonderfully surreal and you can put a personality to their faces even tho they don’t really speak (save Pinhead and the Woman once or twice).

ugly mess of a sequel, more concerned with effects than story

Not sure why his head gets ripped off at the end, too. Was Leviathan already tired of him?

It’s hard for me to actually remember the ending. :/ maybe I’ll try to rewatch the first couple during October.
