This year's Nobel Prize for Literature has been awarded to the US poet Louise Glück.

Glück was recognised for the "austere beauty" of her work, said the Swedish Academy, which oversees the prestigious award.

The prize is given to the person who has "produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction".

Among those, I knew for sure Alice Munro, Bob Dylan and Kazuo Ishiguro, and maybe vaguely by name Patrick Modiano and Peter Handke.

I did read a collection of short stories by Olga Tokarczuk after she won the prize and I quite liked it.

But to be fair most of the authors who wins the noble prize in literature are unknown to me. probably because i rarely read literature written after 1900.
