Chuckie for the win. I've always liked him. Bronson pulled it off with aplomb. I love all the first three Death Wish films. I love the first two Death Wish films. I cannot recall whether I've seen the third one. What was the plot spin in the third film, Toasty?

Paul Kersey is of course very hard not to pick, but there have been a few others who I think managed to stand out in the vigilante "crowd", and Robert Ginty's performance as John Eastland in James Glickenhaus extremely violent and sleazy vigilante film The Exterminator (1980) has to be among the most memorable vigilante characters ever to appear on the screen. ![](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4ef1d436f39b8db3ad3d4c671f894a62/tumblr_o2583nzvR51tbcweeo1_400.gifv) His way of dealing with the absolute scum of New York City is just, well, downright brutal and somehow very fitting, from feeding gang bangers to a bunch of hungry rats while they are still alive, to stuffing mob bosses into big meat grinders (also while they are alive and "kicking") to taking out pimps (burning them, alive) or shooting a rather HUGE hole into some nasty sex customers, The Exterminator has no limits to how far he will go to dish out revenge. Sadly, they made a sequel, one which comes with a fantastic cool movie poster, but the atmosphere and story is handed out in kind of a similar way as of the much later and more lighthearted Death Wish films, but where they succeeded in being enjoyable and funny, The Exterminator 2 I thought did end up as more dull and annoyingcontinuation, that was never really needed. A shame, as the first one is one of the best and most nasty looking exploitation films of the late 70s and early 80s, and along with Death Wish (1974), Vigilante (1983) and Class of 84 (1982) stands among as some of the best or mest entertaining vigilante thrillers. ![](https://media0.giphy.com/media/640AU9P718qqs/giphy.gif) Linda Blair also kicked some serious ass in Savage Streets (1984), and looked pretty damn hot while taking out the local trash. A very solid and well made revenge thriller, and surely one of the better Death Wish "clones" of that era. ![](https://i.imgur.com/FAED9XC.jpg) Dolph Lundgren delivered one of his best and most hard hitting performances during the 80s and 90s, as Frank Castle in The Punisher (1989), and of course it helped having a very talented gallery of actors around him, such as Louis Gossett Jr., Jeroen Krabbé and Kim Miyori.
