The studios that made those superhero movies hate Trump. The superheroes in those movies never go it alone--they always govern or act by committee (if they are successful). Trump's image (whether accurate or not) is that of the independent chieftain--he is the antithesis of what the corporations want in a leader--but Moore is right in a sense that Trump is closer to an old fashioned fictional hero (at least in image) than the George Bush or Tony Blair or Obama, so that accounts for why he was voted in--he was perceived as strong and confident enough to fix problems. But the blame for the superhero films lies at the doorstep at the corporations--they only think in terms of brand names now (thus another ballyhooed Cleopatra--I think we can't hold out breath waiting for a patriarchal character to get such focus).

Trump is about as corporate as they come.

Trump is about as corporate as they come. Sure, he was promoted in the corporate media. But they did not want him as president--he was more like a Rush Limbaugh divisive figure or media clown. The media was laughing at him-look at this big fat arrogant white guy with bad hair--but he was using them too and saw the opportunity to step in, using his media status to promote himself.
Nobody else could have done it. Someone unknown would have been ruined by the scandals or public uncertainty.

He also ran against one of the most hated politicians of the modern era; a politician who was under FBI investigation at the time, yet he won by a slim margin.

Aloon Moore read comics growing up in the 50s and the 60s, a totally different era, comics would have been like the YouTube of the day for kids. Different times.

Guess rich and white really does pay off.

To be fair, Alan Moore doesn't like anything.

The thing about Alan Moore, I'm always intrigued by his perspective no matter how surprisingly small minded and cynical it might be. Superhero films are just an extension of 80s action movies, which were an extension of Westerns before them. It's not like there's some radical shift in societal behavior brought on by what's currently happening in cinema.
It reminds me of his critique of the American obsession with superheroes and comparing it to US imperialism; America likes starting fights with outmatched opponents and continually pummeling them. This of course discounts the fact that America was dragged kicking and screaming into WWII, and his own country set perhaps the greatest example of global empire by beating down less capable (militarily/economically/industrially) populations the world over. Again, I enjoy his commentary but I'm often surprised at how shortsighted he can be, particularly for a writer of his stature.

Hell no. He had his name taken off the movie adaptations of his work. What about V for Vendetta? Nope. He hasn't seen it and he never will. I respect that angle, truthfully. I also respect Stephen King's old saying, "Take the money and run." But for Moore, he clearly has a vision for all of his work and doesn't want to see it perverted by somebody else. If it were up to him, none of it would ever have hit the big screen.

He also ran against one of the most hated politicians of the modern era; a politician who was under FBI investigation at the time, yet he won by a slim margin. Well she got the illegal immigrant vote. It seems likely Trump got the most legal citizen votes.
Biden has no one showing up for his appearances--yet according to the media he is uber popular.

Guess rich and white really does pay off. Poor and white rich and white but unknown wouldn't have worked either. Unfortunately with the media the way it is, only someone like Trump could come along and get noticed.
Another Ross Perot didn't have a chance and someone poor would be beholden to the same special interests as the system politicians.
